The project focuses on the development of a digital technology for the design, monitoring, and integrated control of agrivoltaic systems (agri-photo-voltaic, APV) and the enhancement of territorial resilience, particularly with respect to highly impactful climatic events such as droughts and floods.
By using Digital Twin technology, all its functional implications will be exploited for the synergistic optimization of agricultural yields and energy production, as well as for waste-free irrigation.
The digital twin of the APV system, guided by an appropriate artificial intelligence algorithm, will allow for the definition of the most suitable plant configuration and the intelligent management of resources within the so-called water-food-energy nexus, ensuring not only good food productivity but also simultaneously promoting the widespread use of renewable energy sources and soil protection. This will be accompanied by technical-economic feasibility studies based on industrial research.
The impact of RAYS is to improve the use of energy infrastructure in rural areas and provide a concrete future growth in the competitiveness of the primary agricultural sector.
